Watford FC Women are a dedicated and passionate team, both on and off the pitch. With players and staff who balance full-time careers alongside their commitment to the club, Watford FC Women place equal importance on mental and physical health. Their partnership with the Melp Foundation reflects their forward-thinking approach to supporting player wellbeing and creating a positive, nurturing environment where every individual feels valued.
“At Watford FC Women, we want to look after the people first, before we see them as players. A player’s mental health is as important as their physical health, and yet it is all too often overlooked. Sports teams have physios and doctors on hand to make sure that the players are ready to take to the field physically, but not enough are looking after their mental health. We didn’t want that to be us.
“We have a fantastic group of staff and players who go above and beyond to represent our club and put their bodies and minds on the line. Almost all of the players and some of the staff have another job – often full-time, and coming to football shouldn’t feel like a chore. For that reason, we try to put things in place to allow everyone to feel supported both on and off the pitch, and that’s why we have partnered with the MELP Foundation, to offer them a platform to look after themselves while they are with us, but also when they are at home or away from the club.
“Sophie has been a huge support to us over the past couple of seasons and we look forward to welcoming her and her team in again for some more workshops, which have been a great support to our staff and players”.
